Spin Labels For Hair Loss

Spin labels, like copper peptides, are antioxidant superoxide dismutases. What this means is that they inhibit the formation of free radicals that may be contributing to hair loss. This means that they have anti-aging and scar-reducing properties that may be beneficial to people with hair loss. Spin labels are not only for those with pattern baldness or age- related hair loss. Most of these are far more effective when used after radiation such as in persons undergoing chemotherapy, cobalt or other radiation therapies and hair loss caused by degenerative diseases.

Mechanism of Spin Labels

Spin labels are also a form of superoxide dismutases (SODs) which destroy superoxide free radicals.  They are unpaired electrons and may be used with other chemicals and substances to obtain a hair inducing formula. This kind of treatment may stimulate hair growth by increasing nitric oxide levels (those that help SODases) or destroying hair growth inhibitors.  By encouraging nitric oxides, hair growth and re-growth are maintained, and the resting phase of the hair cycle is retarded. However, it may also work towards hair loss as it may cause the transition from hair growth to hair loss but with the right combination of nitric oxide. This is why research is still being done to explore the efficiency of proteins that have high affinity to metals, like copper peptides.

Benefits of Spin Labels

Spin labels are usually prepared together with other additives. They can be administered to the scalp, applied topically. Results are dependent on the type of hair loss being treated but usually a daily application for 3-6 months will start showing improvement, provided that it is prepared properly. Topical application of spin labels can produce hair growth, create an increase in the number of hair shafts, boost the formation of new follicles and increase the diameter of new hair. It improves vascularity in the area being treated by reacting with the skin and encouraging blood flow to the target area. It can help the scalp produce viable hair follicles by stimulating the cells to regenerate and create a new layer of healthier tissue, and bring back nutrients into the existing tissues of the scalp. Considering this beneficial effect, it can also be used as a treatment after invasive procedures to reduce scarring in the scalp, as well as hasten tissue repair and decrease the effect of shock after hair transplantation. However, caution should be taken as it can also have an adverse rather than the desired effect and result in further hair loss.

Spin labels as a hair loss innovation are still in the experimental stages until today but evidence has been gathered that has proven its efficacy, much like copper peptides and other SODases, in treating hair loss. It is a temporary treatment for hair loss and cannot completely stop it from taking place but it can decelerate hair loss by encouraging the formation of new skin on the scalp. The effectiveness of using spin labels as a treatment is heavily dependent on the preparation, proper use and application of the product.
